OK. Back to work.

I successfully completed the aids ride and have spent about two weeks recovering and celebrating with a higher than normal party-to-exercise ratio.

I have this great fitness base that I'm quite looking forward to building upon. I plan to get back to the weights to lean muscle mass and mixing in a lot more cross training to work on core fitness. I'll continue to cycle, but probably only twice a week for now (instead of the 6-7 days a week I was doing for a while there).

My next medium term fitness goal is to lose about a pound a week and get under 240 by the holidays. A pound a week average is easy with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

I've had a really good week. I've been working an awful lot on my diet and really paying attention to what I've been eating (and how much). I think I've smoothed out much of the yo-yoing I was doing last week and am now on a more steady weight loss pattern.

Training is feeling really good too: this week was the first time in a while I've really felt fit. My resting heart rate is down and workouts that were painfully hard a few weeks ago are feeling like good, medium intensity fare.

Now if I can just resist the urge to celebrate with a box of fried chicken and a bottle of bourbon.

I've successfully completed the AIDS lifecycle ride. Due to all of that training, my cardio fitness level is very good - now it's just time to shed the extra weight I'm carrying around.

When I first started, I was on the wrong side of 300 pounds. While I've still got a long way to go, I'm now almost halfway to my original goal of losing 80 pounds.

UPDATE: I slacked off this fall and put some of the weight back on. I've lost it before, so I know that I can do it again.
